The Volta ao Algarve Bike Race, one of the best known and respected international cycling events, is taking place between February 19 and 23.

Vilamoura is the logistics base for the entire operation and is welcoming cyclists for the final stage. So both tourists and residents of Vilamoura will be able to experience up close all the colour and fun, speed and media coverage that cycling, as one of the most popular sports in our country, has to offer.

Hundreds of journalists, dozens of television channels and other media organizations are expected, to bring the entire race to the whole world, and especially, the exciting moment of the finish line.

Vilamoura will welcome them with open arms and we are sure residents will understand all the changes that will have to be made, particularly with relation to traffic. However, we would already like to inform you that:

• Restricted traffic conditions will only be between 12.30pm and 4.00pm on February 23.

• Access to Vilamoura should be made preferably via Quarteira.

• For journeys between Quarteira and Albufeira we suggest that drivers use the EN125.

• All changes will be clearly and properly marked.
