No próximo dia 17 de Junho, o Zoo De Lagos vai receber o primeiro casal de Cangurucinzento oriental (Macropus giganteus). Torna-se assim o primeiro e único Jardim Zoológico em Portugal a ter cangurus.

Esta espécie é bastante maior que a outra espécie de marsupial que já temos, o Wallaby, chegando a poder saltar 9m em comprimento e até quase 2m em altura. Para isso, precisa de uma cerca mais alta, pelo que estamos já a finalizar a sua nova instalação, mesmo ao lado dos parentes Wallabies, enriquecendo assim, o nosso Trilho Australiano, que já conta também com espécies como o Ganso-porco e a Ema.

On June 17, Lagos Zoo will receive the first pair of Eastern Grey Kangaroos (Macropus giganteus). It becomes the first and only Zoo in Portugal to have kangaroos.

This species is much bigger than the other species of marsupial that we already have, the Wallaby, being able to jump 9m in length and up to almost 2m in height. They need a higher fence, so we are already finishing their new enclosure, right next to their relatives Wallabies, thus enriching our Australian walking through, who has already species like the Cape Barren Goose, and the Emu.
